Alphabet Zoo is one of my favorite designs because it's crisp, clever, and simple. I decided to break it apart into 26 different cupcakes as something different (and more practical - if I messed up on one of them, I didn't have to restart the whole cake). After baking, I iced and hot-knifed each cupcake so it had a smooth blue backdrop, then I drew, outlined, and smoothed each animal on in white frosting. They were delicious but the blue dye in the icing was so concentrated that it dyed our mouths blue as we snacked.
