Description
Cake is Awesome! That's a sentiment I can get behind fully.
I made my cake from 2 boxes of cake mix because my skills as a baker are limited to obeying strict directives from a cardboard box. And I even failed at that since I overfilled my 8" cake pans to get a more full cake shape. But, success! They still baked all the way through! I then stacked them up with a butter cream frosting (again, from a can) filling, and a light crumb-catching layer of frosting. After letting the cake set for an hour in the fridge I threw on another layer of frosting that had been tinted yellow and topped it off with a pre-packaged chocolate sauce.
For the arms, legs, and guitar I used those meltable candy pieces. I made molds in the respective shapes that I needed with aluminum foil and filled them with melted chocolate. After they cooled I piped on the details with melted candy.
Because the jumping pose the cake was in reminded me of David Lee Roth, I decided to make the guitar after Eddie Van Halen's instead of the more classic Les Paul that was used in the design. For some reason, this cake screamed "1980's" to me.
I brought the cake to a friend's b-day party where it was promptly gobbled up (except the guitar- too much chocolate). But I forgot to take pictures of people devouring my creation. In the spirit of Rock N' Roll, we watched This is Spinal Tap while partaking.
This cake goes all the way to 11.
