Description
At last - a vegetable my son will eat!
To create Mr. Salad I first made the salad ruffles out of green fondant, and the sunglasses out of black and pink fondant. These dried out overnight. The next day I baked a round cake in my soccer ball pan, adding confetti for "bugs". I tinted my buttercream green to match the lettuce fondant. I frosted the cake thickly and attached the lettuce strips. Sadly, the glasses broke when I lifted them, but stayed in place nevertheless with a few dabs of buttercream and a few toothpicks.
The boys were eager to cut into Mr. Salad with their largest, sharpest tools. The consensus was that we should have Mr. Salad every night as our vegetable!
