Description
Making this cake was about a two day process. We baked Friday night and Saturday morning. Most of the decorating was done on Saturday. Final assembly and decorations finished up on Sunday.
We baked two 11" rounds and an 8" square cake. The cake was filled and frosted with a vanilla buttercream frosting. The animals, clouds, and sun on the cake were all made from gum paste. The base of the cake as well as the factory are both cake covered in fondant. The trees as well as the smoke stack are made from rice crispy treat covered in fondant.
My newly pregnant (and morning sick) wife did most of the decorating and I did most of the baking.
