Description
So I thought I would challenge myself a little bit with this cake, trying to take something that was easy to understand in a 2D picture, but make into something 3D! (And edible!)
I started by drawing out my design, which was a pain in the butt because I had decide how I was going to do the windows. I settled on giving my cake a square shape, because it felt more appropriate for a city setting.
About a day before, I took some white fondant, got my hands (and counter top)all sticky and nasty dying it as black as I could get it. I rolled out my fondant and cut different sizes and shapes of buildings. The next day, I whipped up some royal icing, and started piping little dots and squares for windows.
Next I focused on my cake bases...I took more of the black fondant I had, and covered them in it. Once my buildings were dry, I stuck them to the cake using more royal icing on the back. Then I took more royal icing, and started to pipe the windows, or *stars* floating away , starting off being close together and tight, then separating out farther.
To finish it all off, I took some edible pearl spray and gave my sky (top tier) some milky-nightime-ish look to it.
It was super simple, probably only took a few hours, but I was pretty happy with it!
