Description
Many thanks to roommate/cake taster/sometimes photographer Stacey for letting my cake share the tiny fridge with the July 4th picnic stuff this weekend.
For my cake, I used a yummy lemon mix with a raspberry butter cream icing. I baked the lemon cake in two 9x13 pans, then stacked and carved them into a shape echoing the shirt design outline with icing in between. I then iced the whole thing and let it set while I rolled out the fondant. I had never used fondant before, and I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was! I covered the cake, and then whipped out the black icing to do the actual design. Turns out my old henna skills are still around, so all of the piping only took a couple of hours. Then I just added a bit of twisted fondant around the base for some extra embellishment, and then it was cake time!
