Description
When I discovered the Threadcakes contest it was just before the 29th birthday of one of my best friends - perfect timing!
This was a chocolate cake (an old family recipe) with chocolate ganache.
I had never used ganache as a base before but it was a great idea (both because of the sturdy and delicious factors). The limbs/speech bubbles were done a few days in advance to dry, the cake was baked, carved, and ganache-d one day and decorated the following day.
The limbs/speech bubbles are made from gumpaste, held on with floral wire or toothpicks, and the other features and main covering are fondant.
