Green Apocalypse cake by Bibi Conteras

Description

This is my first time participating in the contest, and it was very difficult to make my mind to chose on a design.
It has been a very pleasant experience, I will surely also participate in the upcoming years, because fondant is like a little warm that gets in and does not come out!

I chose this design because I liked the comparison of an atomic explosion with the explosion of the nature. For me it was like the forest rebellion!

To do so, I used the help of a rigid base to support the full weight of the design. With the RKT, I covered the base and the "trunk" and for the cup of the explosion I baked three cakes, the larger one made of chocolate-brownie with chocolate ganache filling, since it is a favourite of my family and the other 2 cakes were one of Strawberry and the next with a champagne flavour.

I turned them and with what remained from the cake I made cake balls with granache and buttercream. Afterwards, I paste them to the cup to produce the rounded shape.

I covered it all with fondant and then hand painted it all.
The buildings are made of gum paste.
It took me 3 days to make the design and a night to cut it!
This was the most difficult part!
