My husband has always bought threadless T-shirts and Cookie loves Milk has been his favourite and subsequently purchased many times over. When we found out we were expecting our first baby he went straight on and bought her the onesie version before she was even born! When I heard about Threadcakes there was no other possible cake to make for me. Although quite a simple deisgn it is so cute and I had to make it just because my lovely Molly could sit next to it in her onesie for added cuteness!
For me the cake inside is just as important, if not more so, than the decoration so I wanted to make sure it was going to taste just yummy. I wanted to tie the cake flavour to the design so made a milk choc chip cake with added homemade choc chip cookie dough chunks. Yummy! The eggs even came from my lovely chickens in my garden. I filled the cake with a vanilla milk buttercream.
I love the colours of this design and the blue really sets it off. My husbands t-shirt and babies onesie are slightly different shades of blue so I went for midway between the two. I then mixed the shades for the browns and pinks and got creating. As it is a 2D cake I rolled the fondant out and cut all the pieces out freehand. The cookie chips were just splodged on! Once I had made the main pieces I started assembling the cake and layering up the items adding the hands and feet last. I added a matching pink ribbon and hoorah I was finished. Now time to eat it. Luckily I had a call from some friends asking me round for a cup of tea so the cake was soon demolished and enjoyed by all. Eating the cake is definately the best bit and even after hours of work creating a cake I still love seeing it being enjoyed, almost as much as cookie loves milk!
