Everyday Life Would Be Cooler With Sound Effects cake by Sarah Woodward

Description

So I'm back for my third year entering Threadcakes! Its crazy to think that I started this when I was 17 and now I'm 19 and still improving my skills! Compared to the other two, I definitely finished this cake in the shortest amount of time. I first printed out the design, cut out the individual pieces, and then cut out fondant pieces. Then I mixed the food colouring "paint"and painted the title and two squares before I had to leave to be a counselor at a Girl Scout Camp for 6 weeks. When I came back (last Wednesday) I had to get right back to decorating! I ended up cutting out all the remaining squares again since there was no way I could puncture the fondant with a needle since it was too hard. With the new, softer squares, I could put the paper on top, and poke a thin sewing needle through the design so that all I had to do was basically an extremely difficult connect-the-dot puzzle. I worked on it on for 3 days straight spending about an hour on pricking and painting each square. I picked a Texas vanilla bean sheet cake recipe, and mixed in some vanilla beans into a tub of store-bought frosting. I finished the cake at about 7pm tonight...Yeah, I know how to cut it close! Thankfully I had a lot of people motivating me to finish, especially my friends and most importantly my mum! Our reward is a delicious cake! :)
