Description
this was my first time entering this awesome competition! i had a whole stack of images saved that i wanted to make, so i had a little competition on my facebook page where my likers commented on their favorite one, and then whichever image had the most comments (this one!) one of them would win it!
i must say i got quite carried away with this and kept forgetting to take snaps along the way, but did manage a few!
it took a couple days planning and baking, i had both the commercial and domestic ovens cranking in the kitchen! but as usual i left it to the last minute to start putting it together!
thankfully i remembered to check if my plan would fit in the car, and eeeekkk it was way too tall! so i quickly shrunk down my plans so that it would just fit into the car, hhhmmmm maybe its time to look into getting a trasport vehicle hehe
the structure is pretty simple with the 2 steel 'legs' going right up, and then just the cake bases, it was really sturdy so that was great.
the cone and bottom 'scoop' are chocolate mudcake with chocolate ganache,
the middle scoop is red velvet with cream cheese flavoured IMBC,
and the top scoop was Rekorderlig strawberry and lime cider cake, with strawberry filling and lime IMBC.
the cone is covered in fondant, i did plan to cover the scoops also, but ran out of time, im not very experienced with buttercream so its not quite what i had in mind, but i think it turned out ok!
the arms and feet are made from modelling chocolate, so there is no support in the arms, the top scoops arms actually got a little soft and droopy as it was really hot in the car and cafe, but once it was home they had had time to cool and harden again (need to adjust my recipe a little there!)
i have included a couple pics of Kylie in the car with her cake, as you can see it really only just fit in! i think it ended up being about 65cm tall!
i forgot to take a proper image of the completed cake, so had to photoshop the background out, not perfect but hopefully thats ok!
and just because he was so cute i had to include the pic of Kylie's wee nephew sampling the cake, i think it was a hit~!
thanks so much for this competition, i had a ball working on this, and cant wait to get started on another one!
