I ve Forgotten Why I Shouldn t Blink

I'm a big Doctor Who fan and the Weeping Angels are one of my favourite characters, so as soon as I saw this design I knew it was the one! I wanted something that would be a lot of fun for me to create but also challenge me, and this one sure fit the bill. Kudos to the artist for the amazing Weeping Angels/Silents crossover design, such a beautiful and creepy work of art!

The cake took about 6 hours total to assemble, carve and decorate, not including baking time and an overnight drying period for the wings. I iced & filled it with a chocolate glaze to help it keep its shape, and then covered it in fondant which I then hand-painted. The wings are covered in individually cut feathers. The cake itself was chocolate pound cake, for a nice density to hold up to stacking & carving. It was pretty darn tasty, too.
