Alpacalypse

This is my 2D entry. I have a fine arts degree, and cake has become my usual medium! I just quit a secure job to start a cake business (www.projectcakes.com) do to the encouragement of others. I chose Alpacalypse, because who doesn't love the romantic idea of an Alpaca farm? This is a bit juxtaposed, but still. How cute! I made my husband's favorite chocolate cake (again!), and used all buttercream icing to draw the design. I started with a white base coat, and also free-handed a stencil of "Alpacalyse" to scale for the size of the cake, and free-handed the rest of the design with a toothpick and referencing the image. Then- lots of layering! I started with black, then the blue color, then red, and finished up with white. I used a few fine-tipped icing tips to draw the fine lines. It was a lot more time-consuming than I thought it'd be, but well worth it!
