Bad Hair Day

I chose this design because it made me smile, I could imagine it as a cake straight away. I decided to make it for my friends birthday, unfortunately I didn't get to eat any! Inside, it was a lemon sponge with apricot jam and white chocolate and vanilla buttercream. As my friend doesn't like sugarpaste I covered this cake in modelling chocolate, which I had a go at making for the first time and it turned out okay. The arms, features and strands of hair took quite a long time and a few attempts, many broke along the way. I piped out the strands with plain yellow icing on baking paper, when they were fully dry I used a skewer to make holes in the edge of the cake and poked them all in!
