Description
I decided on Frankie goes to Hollywood as I'd never done a sculpted face cake and I thought it would be a fun way to start.
I got my husband to make a support for me using wood and glue and then started building the cake from here.I made a vanilla cake with chocolate ganache.
After I had carved the cake I added 50/50 modelling chocolate and fondant and started adding on the features.
I made the bubble using gelatin and a bit of food dye and dipped a balloon into it.
I then painted the cake and also used petal dust. I would much refer to have airbrushed my piece, but my airbrsh died just as I attempted to do so.
In the end I think my cake looks far more like my husband monsterfied than Frankie himself, but it was a great learning exerience and I am proud of what I accomplished. I'm already looking forward to next year's entry :) x
