Camouflage cake by Caitlin Bird

Description

This cake is a basic yellow cake from the Everyday Foods magazine with chocolate and vanilla buttercream icing as well as some color flow icing. It tasted super good, but it was a little dense because I didn't add enough baking soda. Anyway, it took me nine hours to make. I had to get up at seven o'clock in the morning to make it because I left for a week long trip that evening. It was definitely exciting to make a cake from a design: this is only the second cake I've made using fondant. It was also really hard to do all on my own. Originally I was going to have my best friend Cecilia come for moral support and also to help bake the cakes, but she was pulled away on a family emergency so I went solo. The process was long and agonizing because I had to keep putting the cake in the fridge to let it chill, but it was totally worth it. I got to eat the cake, after all. And it was delicious.
