For the last two years I have wanted to enter Threadcakes but have never had the time - so this year I MADE TIME!
There are so many threadless designs I love so it was very hard to choose. In the end I decided on my latest favourite (and purchase) Octopus Ice Cream by @itzikcohen. Theres something about that squishy little guys face that captured my heart!.
I figured it was a simple enough design to achieve in cake - yet would still chalenged my skill set and take me outside my comfort zone. This is the first cake I have ever made with an internal structure (all stainless steel so foodsafe), and the first cake I have air brushed that wasnt just one solid colour so I had the chance to practice shading.
I also added my own little idea at the back of the cake. He carries with him a boquet of seaweed, coral and shells - Please accept it as his apology for impersonating your ice cream, because he clearly ate it. Just look at that guilty, squishy face.
I didn't take note of how many hours it took as for me it was just something fun to do - But if I take a rough tally it would have been around 20 Hours including baking decorating and clean up.
I hope you all love him as much as I do!
