Description
I decided on Introduction to Molecular Bonding because I wanted to mold little miniature keg cups out of fondant. I'd never done anything with fondant before (or any cake decorating, really), so I found some marshmallow fondant recipes managed to get it right on the second try.
I kept the cake part simple, just a box mix and canned frosting for the main cake. I carved balls out of cupcakes for the larger atoms and covered them with fondant, and made the smallest hydrogen atoms out of solid fondant. The keg cups were made out of fondant as well. Pocky served as the bonds.
Even after eating cake scraps all afternoon, it turned out deliciously. I invited my chemistry teacher friend over to help us eat it. She was impressed with the nerdiness of it all.
