Description
I made this cake on the afternoon of my birthday (even though I'm diabetic and couldn't actually eat it.)
I used a confetti cake mix baked into a single sheet,(I thought it would look entertaining when we cut into it), and decorated it with white icing, white fondant, and dyed fondant.
I cut out the shapes, and then used a little water to secure it to the top of the cake.
At the very end, I used a little black icing for the face details.
I chose a very simple cake design since it's the first cake I've ever decorated, and I wasn't sure if fondant and I would become fast friends or not. (For the record, we seem to mutually dislike one another. It's a good thing I didn't start out with more complex ambitions.)
It was a good deal of fun, and friends and co-workers enjoyed consuming the results.
After finishing this one, I must say, I've gone from amazed by some of the entries to absolutely astounded by them--it's much more difficult than I would have thought!
