Everyone Poops

This was a super quick Threadcake - the oven was turned on at 7pm and the cake was eaten and sent to bed by 10. When baking this cake, we wanted to be as non-partisan as possible, so we made a red velvet cake with blue frosting. It was patriotic! Anyway, Maggie baked the cake with some encouragement (and paparazzi help) from Bobby. Then, Ashley came over to help ice and decorate. We wanted the cake to have a campaign poster/screenprinted feel, so we made a stencil, placed it on top of the cake, and then sifted cocoa powder on top. This seemed like an excellent idea until we realized there wasn't a good way to remove the excess cocoa from the cake. The brilliant solution was to just blow it into the sink, however the cocoa had other ideas and filled the room. The air tasted like chocolate (which would have been delightful if we had been able to breathe it). Crisis averted, we peeled off our stencils and found a fabulous image left behind. A few dollops of "poop" beneath our donkey and elephant friends and the cake looked good enough to eat! So we did.
