Description
The base of this cake is cherry and almond cake, using my mother's recipe - which I'd never made before! It worked quite well, though. The icing is buttercream, as it gave the right colour background, and I think it tastes better than fondant.
The lions are made from chocolate shavings and chunks from different types of chocolate, and I drew on the details with a black icing pen.
The cake tasted lovely, and it only took me and a friend a few hours to complete!
