Octopus on yo' Shirt

We had so much fun making this cake! This was our first time working with fondant, which was a bit tricky. We didn't have perfect layering pans to bake the cakes in so we used two spring form pans and a basic 8-inch cake pan and cut the trimmed two layers to size. We also didn't have dowels to hold the layers together so we trimmed fireplace matchsticks to fit, which worked perfectly. We had a lot of fun eating the leftover cake scraps while we decorated the layers, and the sugar high was probably how we survived so many hours of decorating!
