My threadcake adventure was a bit rough from the get-go: my cake fell! I fixed it, though. I got lucky.
I don't have any fancy cake supplies. I rolled my fondant with a wine bottle and I use a hand mixer to make butter cream. Is there an award for the ghetto-est kitchen? Hey! I live in Wyoming! Cut me some slack!
I worked on this cake for 2 days. Day 1 was baking, making frosting and coloring fondant. I cut out the cat and called it a day. On Day 2, I sculpted the birdies. The final cake turned out a bit...less awesome than I had hoped, but it was a fun process and I realized just how much I love this design. I was going to wear this shirt while baking, but I didn't want to get it all icky.
My husband and I nommed the cake today. The extra butter cream holding the sinkhole patch in made for a magical treat in the middle. ;)
