So far, this is the oldest I have ever been

Last weekend, my family gathered at the lake to celebrate five birthdays. What a perfect opportunity to craft my second Threadcakes entry! Based on this clever type tee, my cake sports the likenesses of five guys--from 13 to 60--all of whom are "the oldest [they've] ever been."

The cake is devils food with white chocolate chips; it is iced with chocolate ganache and covered in Satin Ice chocolate fondant. I used rice cereal treats to craft a spiral staircase around the cake. The figures, recliner, signs, and gift (the inspiration tee) were created using a gumpaste/fondant mix. I painted the faces and the wording with food color. Copious amounts of royal icing held everything together and denoted each guys' age.
