The Discovery of Geometry cake by Elsa Marshall

Description

I began by making three round cakes and carved the tiers out of it. I covered it with buttercream and then fondant and began to paint with black food colouring. This was my second cake with fondant and the first time I've painted one. It was going quite well, but I decided to continue it the next day. So, without knowing the side effects, I put the cake in the fridge.

The next day I took it out and the food colouring began to seep and the design turned in to a blob in areas. Realising my mistake, my mom and I took the fondant off the cake and put some new fondant on and we repainted it (all the pictures are of the new cake). We tried to keep to the main design, but left some lines out so the design wouldn't be too crammed. I painted the pyramid at the top with lemon juice a bit of yellow pearl dust.

The cake tasted good and we are hoping to make petit fours with the extra cake and fondant.
