Camouflage cake by Kris Mommaerts

Description

I choose the design Camouflage because I just fell in love with the bear and bee. It took me about an hour and a half to mold the bear and bee. They are made of a mixture of fondant and marizpan. I painted the stripes on the bee with gel food coloring. The shape of the cake didn't come to me until I realized I didn't have any round cake pans, so I decided to bake it in a bowl and make the cake look like a beehive. I made the lines and entrance of the hive with fondant, and the sign is just marizpan with painted on letters. I worked on the cake for two days for about an hour and a half each day, minus the baking time of the cake (I have 3 little ones and only had limited time each day). The cake was very yummy and is all gone. My two daughters started enjoying the cake right after I took all the pictures.
