Okay, so lemon-aid cake! First of all this was a combined effort of Cheryl McDonald (sister) Katherine Raymond (cousin) and I. When we saw this design we thought is was hilarious, and I knew we could for sure make realistic looking lemons out of cake and fondant. So we went for it. We used a pan for hald circle cakes and each lemon is two put together (or not in the halved one's case :D ) we used a very simple buttercream to stick the fondant onto them. We stuck the fondant on white, but hand poked in the texture with toothpicks first. Once we covered the cakes and gave them the lemon shape, we painted on the food colouring (and dyed our hands yellow) Then we had our problems, structurally. We were going to use tuiles for the legs, and did for the front legs but ended up using candy and melted sugar to assemble the back legs. We also did that for the stretcher poles. buuut the tuile leg broke on one and these guys were hard to stand up hence the hasty assembly and rather disappointing end result , but it was tasty
