Description
I made this cake in a rush unfortunately. I had many a baby shower and bridal shower to make cupcakes for, and I had forgotten the due date for this contest.
Luckily I checked the website out on Thursday (the 30th) and saw that I had only 4 days left to make a cake!
So, I baked 4 round cakes late last night (Friday), evened them out, crumb coated them, threw them in the fridge, and then first thing this morning I swirl iced them with green tinted vanilla frosting (I also bought the frosting with rainbow chips for the torting of the 4 layers. nom nom!)
I had pre-made the unicorn out of gumpaste back in June when I had heard about it on the cake-wrecks blog. So, I took it out of the freezer, and painted it and all the yellow creatures (made from yellow tinted fondant) with a food-coloring water mixture.
Once they were dry, and the little yellow men were stiff, I began placing them on the cake. (I cheated and used real marshmallows, because unfortunately my unicorn is in the shop..)
I chose to make my cake after 'Marshmallow Factory' because it is my absolute favorite of my threadless tees. I also thought sculpting the unicorn out of gumpaste might be a cool challenge to take on. I'm really happy with the unicorn.
p.s- Did you notice the rainbow coming out of his butt? :)
