Description
Better late than never. We selected "All Things Are One" because of the variety of colors and challenges the design presented. We began at 11:30 a.m. and baked a simple yellow sheet cake. While the cake baked and cooled, we created a basic Crisco and confectioners sugar frosting to cover the cake and use in the design as well. Most of the letters are molded out of white Wilton Gum Paste which we dyed and shaped into the desired letter. For letters like the second A, we molded the base out of gum paste and added the wings with dyed frosting and a decorating tip. The first L is white frosting covered in tiny pink shapes, and is probably our favorite! Letters like the G and R are completely made of the confectioners sugar frosting. The final touches we placed on the cake were outlining certain letters with black food coloring using a pointed knife, like the mushroom and cloud lines. We finished the whole thing around 6 p.m. and so unlike God it only took us a day to create this masterpiece. We have little cake experience but overall it was a good time and we both decided we probably have to buy the shirt since the more we worked on the cake the more we loved the design.
