Description
This cake is inspired by the t-shirt design, and dedicated to all the cyclists in my life. This is the second attempt at this cake, since the first cake melted in the heat of my fourth floor Brooklyn apartment and collapsed on itself and tilted.
I started by creating the fondant figures while baking the cake layers. I opted for a simple yellow cake from scratch and a cream cheese frosting. I had to use less icing that I would have liked to due to the heat and humidity, because I wanted to avoid the tilting disaster of the first cake.
After assembling the cake layers, I placed the fondant figures on the cake and attached the other decorative elements, such as the ketchup bottle, the sun, and the “cheeseborger” sign (which is my favorite part of the design).
