E Pluribus Unum cake by Charity Bass

Description

The first step was I got some pre-made wilton roll out fondant and colored it the two shade of blue from the shirt. I then individually crafted two-dimentional characters based on the characters on the shirt. There were well over 150 total characters that I created. I started about a week ahead of time in put in several hours a day working on them. Then on the day of the cake eating event, I baked 2 sheet cakes, a 16 in square in chocolate and 14 X 9 in rectangle in yellow. I placed them beside each other and carved the "1", but the length stayed in tact - 30 inches long, or 2 1/2 feet. That is one big cake. I then iced the cake with homemade buttercream icing and "glued" the fondant pieces of the characters on top with icing, replicating the design of the shirt exactly. The entire cake was edible and it was quite delicious!
