Description
Me and my sister's very first iced cake! this took us 2 days to make, mostly because as teen cake-creating novices we made lots of mistakes!
Day 1 was cake baking. We used 2 lots of vanilla cake made in a (roughly) 30x20cm pan for the board, and another sandwiched together for the suitcase. Unfortunately the camera wasn't working so there are no photos of the cake sans buttercream.
Day 2 was icing. We laid blue dyed fondant on top the cake, which itself was covered in lemon buttercream. This took us ages as the fondant kept tearing! The remains of the fondant was then dyed different colours to make the game squares, snakes ladders etc. and then the very last of the fondant dyed black and draped over the suitcase. The face and cracks were added at the last minute because the suitcase didn't look nearly as menacing without them!
Day 3 was cake-eating day. Our cake might not have be the best looking but it was definitely the best tasting!
