Description
I had a hard time picking a design but eventually settled on this one. My daughter was the deciding factor because she looooves lions! Originally I was going to do just the lion on a pedastal but then changed the design to include other animals mainly because I didn't want to make an exact copy of the t-shirt.
The animal figures are sculpted from a 50/50 gumpaste fondant mix and hand painted. The pole is a bamboo skewer and is also covered in the gumpaste/fondant and brushed with luster dust.
The top and bottom cakes are 10" rounds. The top cake was carved first both were covered in fondant and hand painted. The detail work was done with royal icing. The middle part was done with 4" rounds covered with fondant. I used a diamond impression and painted the squares. The outlines and dots are done in royal icing.
My Dad ended up with this cake for his birthday party.
