Introduction to Molecular Bonding cake by Emily Chan

Description

The only reason I submitted this entry is as follows: the molecule of interest is not just any alcohol, but ethanol!

Anyway, it's a chocolate cake, filled with strawberries and vanilla whipped cream, frosted with rose-flavoured buttercream, and decorated with marshmallow fondant covered cake-ball atoms (hydrogen atoms are fondant only, the rest are cake), Pocky bonds, nutella/chocolate expressions/text, candy-wrapped marshmallow plastic cups, and caramel "beer splash". I also drew molecular structures on the side of the cake (corresponding vaguely to the fermentation of ethanol from glucose and metabolism of ethanol to acetyl-COA), although that's not shown in the primary picture. The cake took 9 hours to assemble, mainly because I've (clearly) never decorated a cake before.

Although it's probably possible to ferment this cake, I ate it instead.

Remark: the atomic colouring is a bit unconventional - my apologies to any chemists that may be reading!
