Extra Pulp cake by Holly Kiang

Description

I love Pulp Fiction! And I love the Extra Pulp Shirt...
However, I wanted Vincent and Jules to appear less business-like...
So I decided to dress them the way they look after Vincent shoots Marvin, the two of them have been to Jimmie's house, and Winston Wolf has helped them clean up.
Jules is wearing a Krazy Kat tee shirt and Vincent is wearing a UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs tee shirt both of which I think are awesome. (I spent quite a bit of time painting them and getting the pictures right...but then due to the humidity..they melted and blurred...but oh well.)
They're both made of vegan orange cakes in a round cake pan. I found that I didn't pour enough batter into those pans and needed more height to make them rounder, so I baked a sheet cake of pineapple vanilla, cut them to fit with the spherical cakes, and iced them with orange frosting. Then, I covered them both with orange fondant and cut out pieces of gray and cornflower blue fondant for their shirts. I then painted on the tee shirt designs, and their faces. I used icing and black food coloring for their hair. For Vincent, I used a decorating comb, and for Jules...I guess the hair just worked out that way.
I felt like Vincent and Jules shouldn't be the only part of the design, so I added in the smaller figures of Marvin, Jimmie, and Winston Wolf. Each of those are made of two cupcakes that have been frosted and carved, then covered in orange fondant. Marvin is in the purple polo and has a somewhat worried look on his face...and even though you can't see it from the primary image, there's "blood" (red food coloring)coming towards him. Jimmie is in the robe, and Winston in the suit.
Actually working on the cake didn't take too long, but it's been so humid that I'd have to stick them back in the fridge before my work went to waste. By the end, I had redone all of they're facial features at least three times, and the tee shirts are kind of ruined. I guess the heat is also why they're really shiny...
Anyhooooo... Pulp Fiction is still the greatest!
