Description
This cake took me three days to make, working about two hours the first two days and four hours the third day. On the first two days I make the two layers of the cake (I had to space it out since I only had one pan in the size I wanted), stacked them, and crumb-covered them, and on the third day, I decorated.
I laid one layer of plain white fondant over the whole cake, and then added another layer of fondant, which I'd made black with food coloring. Then I cut the hairline out of the layer of black fondant. I had to be really careful with this step because the cake had a tendency to look mullet-y (mulletish? mullet-like?).
After that, I cut the eyes and mouth out of the scraps of black fondant and brushed the backs of the pieces with Karo syrup to make them stick. Then I made my little sister let me take pictures of her eating the cake. She liked it (the cake, probably not the pictures so much, although she looks happy enough.)
