Description
This was made for my nephew's 3rd Pirate Birthday. I backed 2 9 by 13 inch chocolate chocolate chip cakes and 2 vanilla bean loaf cakes. I froze the cakes then when they were chilled I cut the 9 by 13 inch cakes into a boat shape and these two layers became the shop and the loaf cakes I cut the top off one ( this was used for the beach) and the other parts used for captain quarters and the bow of the ship. I made Hershey's cocoa butter cream frosting for the ship and used a decorating tool to make the ship look like wood. I used mini oreo cookies with chocolate chips attached by frosting then attached to the sides of the ship for the cannons. I piped frosting around the top edges of the cake and used pretzels for the rails of the ship and then also the windows and door to the captain's quarters with yellow frosting underneath. I used malted milk balls on the top deck to look like cannon balls. I found a battling pirates play set at Iparty and used that for the figures and cannon's and boat in the water as well as the pirate skeletons the beach protecting their treasure! I used blue colored butter cream frosting to decorate the cake board like the ocean. I used white butter cream frosting for the island and then covered it with brown sugar to make the sand. I made the ship flags with my cricut craft machine and crafting supplies. The cake came out delicious! It was a huge hit!
