Music Business Remastered

Having thought about my Threadcake for a good couple of months, I finally put my plans into action on a rainy day. Although I like baking, I've never put any effort into cake decorating, so I chose a simple design for my first effort.

I decided to make a double-layered cake, and knowing it would take a while to decorate, I cheated with packet-mix cakes. I bought black icing, as my previous attempts to make it myself failed miserably. The process was straight-forward, baked two identical chocolate cakes, stuck them together with chocolate icing, iced the whole cake with chocolate icing before putting the black plastic icing over the top and trimming. I made the hands and buttons from icing while the cakes were baking, and put it all together. I knew the white lines around the record would be difficult, so I cut out circles from card, and used them as a guide. Overall, it was a pretty easy process, but I think that was due to good planning well in advance.

When my housemates and I finally tucked in, it tasted pretty good, although all the icing made for sugar-overload!
