Description
This cake was made for two of my friends' birthdays!
It is a dark chocolate cake with buttercream icing, covered in black buttercream fondant(Charm city cakes brand). The detail of the sketch lines is done with a buttercream/white food color mix that I painted on. The receiver part of the phone is done with rice crispy treats covered in the fondant.
The whole cake took about 4 hours to do and the hardest part to do was to get the text bubble "yargh" to actually stay straight and not fall! I baked a sheetcake and cut out the pieces, then carved out the shape of the phone. After that I covered it with the fondant. The fondant was really easy to work with, though. It doesn't dry out! Finally, I painted all of the detail on. I always end up wanting to paint on a cake rather than pipe on detail.
But it is a pirate phone! What is more awesome than a pirate phone? The cake all together was very delicious! The guys loved the cake and that is all that matters, so I hope all of you love it as well!
