Space Needs Color

First off, I would like to point out I am far from professional! This was actually my first attempt to sculpt with cake. I think it turned out pretty good.

I started off with devil's food cake, and made cupcakes to form the shuttle and a small pan to make the paint.

Next I "glued" everything together using orange buttercream frosting.

I allowed everything to chill while I rolled out some fondant (another first)

I put fondant on the paint base first then I colored it with spray food coloring.

The shuttle was nothing but trouble! After wrestling with the fondant for quite a long time I had FINALLY gotten it to do what I wanted.

It turned out very delicious and I am pleased with how it turned out for my first attempt.
