Description
First of all, I must tell everyone that this is my first sculpted cake that I have ever made. It was a lot of fun and I cannot wait to improve my skills for next year.
My mom is a fantastic cake baker so I used a lot of her advice. I would not of been able to make this cake without her.
I started out by making the base of the cake.I made two 8" Blackberry Vanilla. And it was yummy. I then rolled out light blue fondant and covered one of the cakes with the blue fondant to look like the sky.
With the other cake I cut small circles to use as the body of the clouds. The mom cloud I used to cupcake size cakes stacked on each other with five mini size cupcake around them. Three on the left and two on the right. I then rolled out white fondant and covered those cakes to form the mom cloud. The baby cloud with just one cupcake sized cake. I also rolled out white fondant and covered it to form a cloud shape.
The faces, spoon, airplane and lettering on the front of the cake are all fondant. Besides using four or five toothpicks to hold together the spoon and plane this cake is all edible.
Once again I had so much fun and can't wait until next year. I hope you enjoy!
