Description
I was searching through old posts of cakewreks and I stumbled on their posts of the threadless cake contest. I had only been making cakes for around a month but I knew that I just had to enter. After hours of searching on the Threadless website I found the perfect t-shirt to recreate into cake.
I would have to say that the worst part about making this cake was coloring all of the fondant that I had made. There were just so many colors and I wanted to get each on just right. After the colors were made I made a sheet cake of rice crispy treats. I covered and decorated these to look like all the books in the shirt. I then made three sheet cakes, chocolate ofcourse, and I was well on my way to being finished with the cake. I used this cake as an opportunity to do a taste testing. I made five different filling, cookies and cream, peanutbutter and chocolate chip, toasted marshmellow. mint and chocolate chip, and chocolate mousse. Each layer of the cake had a different filling and the whole cake was covered in chocolate buttercream. In the end the cake was around 16 inches tall and 12 inches wide and too heavy for me to move on my own.
The cake took about a week to make inbetween my duties as a stay at home mom of a four year old and a two year old. Not easy I most add since the kids kept wanting to nibble on everything. It was all worth it when we got to eat the delicious cake , my kids loved the rice crispy treats the best. I personally loved the cookies and cream and the mint chocolate chip. I hope that you like the cake!
