Description
This is my 3rd entry. I Little Lion Man by the Mumford Sons is one of my favorite songs and when I saw this design and realized I had time left for this years contest I wanted to see how fast I could make an awesome cake! I had my amazing mom help me by baking two chocolate rounds--she's a great baker too :)
This gave me time to prep everything else I needed. While the cakes cooled I made the the chocolate butter cream and fondant. While I iced the cakes and let that set I dyed the fondant into two different shades of yellow. After laying the fondant I worked on the fondant ribbons. They are the only not flat part of the cake and the cake still gives the illusion of being flat so I classified it as a 2D cake. I then went to the hazardous work of laying the ribbons. I have never done this before so it was exciting and a learning experience.
I mixed pink fondant with bronze pearl dust to make the heart. Overall I am happy with the cake. I know the more cakes I decorate the better I will get. After getting done I turned on Little Lion Man and ate my Little Lion Man cake. It was a great way to enjoy a great song. :)
