Description
Once, I saw a movie wherein Burt was wrapped only in cellophane; my life has never been the same. In order to counteract that image, I decided to make Burt as delicious as he was meant to be. The cake itself is chocolate with hidden pockets of chocolate chips for decadence. That's where the easiness of this cake ended. You have to earn your Burt. To get the silhouette I had to trace my small laptop screen because we have no printer, but first I had to dig through moving boxes for paper, then use a science beaker pencil because there was no pen to be found. Once done, I placed the stencil under some parchment paper and added oil only to find out that it smudges the picture underneath if you don't use a marker (then promptly started the process again with a marker). Everything in place, I had a bowl of melted chocolate and started to fill in the right places using a plastic fork (nothing but the best for Burt) and taking extra special care of his longing stare. Then I dumped him with white chocolate and he totally didn't expect that! He chilled though and when the parchment paper was removed all that was left was the best looking cake topper seen since Cop and 1/2 (one might go so far to say Cannonball Run III). Alas, Burt's head was too big. While trimming him up things got tense and he broke my heart by breaking in two. WHY BURT WHY?!?!?!?!? Frantic, I white chocolated him back together. Absent-minded with worry, I dumped the rest of the melted chocolate on the cake to help Burt stick. I gently placed him on top, but he was falling apart. I shoved a gob of frosting under his chin, even then realizing that he would never be perfect. Alas, that's the intrigue - what we love about him. Burt cake is the beautiful disaster that can't be fixed. Burt cake has to be eaten on the road, in a race, wearing short shorts and a cowboy hat. As to who would want to eat him, just know the last thing Burt cake heard was, "I got dibs on his mustache!"
