Burger Wipeout

Description
Hi everyone, this is Rease's mom.
This is his second time entering the Threadcakes competition, he entered last year with "Cat on a Skateboard".
His skills have improved a lot over the last year and I am very proud of him.
I think he is a very talented 9 year old, and if knew I was writing all this mushy stuff he would be blushing.
This year he choose "Burger Wipeout" by Terry Fan, I baked the cakes and he did everything else.
First he choose his design, he had a much easier time choosing from all the amazing designs then I did!
Next I had him print out the picture and tape it to a piece of foam board and them tape some wax paper over that.
Then he started building the design from fondant.
I gave him some basic colors and he had to mix them until he had the correct color.
After that he let it dry while he worked on the cake.
He started out by filling his 9" round chocolate cake with raspberry preserves (his choice) and then icing it in buttercream.
After it chilled in the fridge he rolled out the white fondant and covered it.
He has some mad fondant skills for a little kid I tell ya!
Then he placed the fondant burger on the cake and tada it was done!
I let him use a big knife to cut the cake, which he was thrilled with (boys and their stabbie things)and he enjoyed himself a big ole' slice of cake.
That's that.
I'll tell you this though it was super hard not to be a overbearing mom and take over and do stuff for him, but I let him do it by himself and he is just as proud of himself as I am!
