Description
After browsing the Threadless designs with my son he decided he wanted to try his hand at a cake and immediately knew what design he wanted to make..."Cat On A Skate Board".
Just looking at the shirt gives him a major case of the giggles.
Rease is 8 years old (7 actually,he turns 8 in Sept. but he likes to round up), this is his first fondant covered cake.
He enjoys playing with leftover fondant and creating little creatures that he then devours but this is his first cake he has made start to finish.
He had some help from his Mommy though, me :)
I baked the 4" cake for him but from there it was all him.
He filled and iced the cake in vanilla butter cream then covered it in black fondant, he even got to use the Exacto knife for the first time (with supervision of course).
While letting the cake chill he made the cat and skateboard from fondant and let it dry over night.
Next he assembled the cat directly on the cake and painted the stripes on with food coloring and vodka.
Then came the piping, yet another first for him and he did surprisingly well.
After that it was all done and the photo session began.
He is super proud and already planning next years entry!
