Something Strange In Your Beverage cake by Stacey Fruchey

Description

This year, I wanted to do a design that was fairly simple, and I thought this one was really cool.
I started with the handle. I took a big pitcher, and made a mold of that handle with a make-your-own-mold kit from the craft store. I originally filled it with white isomalt, but it didn't come out as well as I would have liked, so I decided to use white chocolate instead.
For the mug, I stacked and filled 3 layers of 6" rounds, and iced in brown buttercream. I could have just used chocolate buttercream, but since the cake was pineapple, I thought regular buttercream colored brown would be better. Next, I wrapped it in fondant. I used a piece of fondant about an inch taller than the mug, so that I could fold it over. This kept the hot chocolate from being all the way up to the brim of the mug.
The logo was hand-painted, using black and red icing color and very thin brushes.
Next, I made Stay Puft pieces out of fondant/gumpaste. I was going to use large marshmallows, but they weren't quite large enough. Add some isomalt steam, and it's done!
Irrelevant to the cake, but thought I would add - It was my turn to bring breakfast to work, so I also made some breakfast rolls (stuffed with eggs, cheese, sausage(portabella for the vegetarians), peppers and onions. The rolls were shaped in a circle with the line through, and topped with tomatoes. Then I added cheese cubes in the shape of the ghost to make the logo. Added some Ectplasma punch, and made an entire ghostbuster-themed breakfast party!
