In The Dark cake by Annabel Brandl

Description

Hi! :D
So, this is my first entry (ever and this year).
I just recently bought a new laptop, after months of living without one (the horror!), so I completely missed that Threadless was having another cake contest. My sister sent me the link a few days ago, and at first I didn't actually want to join, because 1. I have seen and admired all the cakes from previous years and they were AWESOME and 2. because there was less than a week left until the deadline.
But then I was just like whatever and ended up making three cakes :D
It took ages for me to decide on an actual design, because there are that many amazing ones, but finally I had decided which to make. And then made something completely different ^^;;;
(gosh, I'm babbling...rambling? I'm sorry)

When I saw 'In the Dark', I thought it would be cute to have the boy having a sleepover with his sister and telling scary stories, while she was hiding under her blanket, imagining all the monsters.
So I quickly made a sketch of that and started to bake!

The cake is a vanilla pound cake with white chocolate ganache.

I started with making the heads (I've only made humans once or twice before, so it took me a bit longer, but I like how they turned out).
My work space looked like a war zone, with heads on stakes and eyeballs lying around everywhere.

So, after I was finished with the boy and girl, and the bed, I made monsters. And monsters.

And more monsters.

And that is it! :D
