Description
Once upon a time in a land far far away lived a young woman named Lady Ambrosia who aspired to create art that could be a feast for both the eyes and the body.
On her journey she came across a design from a competition entitled threadcakes and thought to herself "Oh what a challenge this would be...".
Her Mother's 62nd Birthday seemed a fitting occassion and Lady Ambrosia saw a beautiful deer design in which she could make 62 gumpaste flowers to cover the deer's modeling chocolate "brantlers" and five chocolate chickadees; three to represent mothers children and two more for her beautiful grandchildren. Using but one wooden dowel, two screws and an armstretch of copper wire Lady Ambrosia set herself to task. A fur of carved and tinted fondant clothed this creature, its form shaped with only chocolate buttermilk. Within its form was swiss meringue buttercream with a subtle wildberry jam layering. In the rise and fall of one sun and moon (25 hours to be precise) she laboured.
Aspiring utter cake purity Lady Ambrosia denied the use of rice krispie treats sculpting only in cake. Her lord captured her efforts with a digital canvas as it evolved from its rawness to its lifelike form.
She was overjoyed as her mothers eyes filled with utter delight at its unveiling following a perilous journey over three hours through many towns, cities and villages. Lady Ambrosia's heart was aflutter, concerned that the little deer would be unable to hold its head high, as it crossed a great distance.
Mother (also Nana), Princess McKenna and Lady Ambrosia's Lord Derrick can all be seen savoring the sweet joy that was born on this gleeful occassion.
"I do hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed creating my first sculpted cake. I have learned so much from this adventure and simply cannot wait to compete yet again as I continue to "bloom" with my own future creations." - Lady Ambrosia
