Description
It was actually my husband's birthday cake, he is a visual effect artist, so the final choice of design and flavor was his.
It's a vanilla and lemon cake with Swiss meringue chocolate and vanilla butter cream, covered with lemon flavored dark chocolate ganache. Everything made from scratch. The cake and the board covered with black fondant.
The whole process including the preparations took about 4 days.
I made templates for the figures, and my armatures are based on them. I used 16 Ga wire covered with floral tape to make the armatures for the figures, than I sculpted them out from modeling chocolate.
,,Thing" the stone man...or something like this, is partly cake covered with modeling chocolate. Took forever the detailing on this one.
I ''nailed'' the figures to the cake with toothpicks and small wooden skewers.
Everything painted than with food color and lemon extract mix, and some cocoa butter for the white parts. I was try to create the comic book look with the way how I colored the figures.
The most difficult part was to take the pictures. I used black paper boards for background, and a small table lamp aim exactly to the center to the cake. like this I was able to avoid the shadows and keep the background in dark.
The cake served about 50-60 ppl.
